Proto Claymation reflection

Proto-claymation reflection

After gathering all the materials that I required during last week, was finaly able to start creating my proto claymation. Saturday, before I could begin making the movie I first had to create the claymation puppet first. Beforehand I created a mold so I could simply put some clay inside of it and take out the puppet. But unfortunately I found that this first mold was highly imperfect. First of all I have to create a little hole at the side of it so I could simply stick my finger in take out the puppet instead of having to scrape it out. Second I found that the clay increases in heat, the more you use it. And the hotter it was the more malleable the clay becomes. The Upside of less malleability was that it remained in place more (Such as when I need to take pictures), but the downside was that the puppet fell apart instead of bending. The Upside of Higher Malleability is that the Puppet can be placed into more complex positions without it ripping, the Downside was that I became stickier and wasn’t as solid so it couldn’t hold its own weight well. As I tried making the puppet using the mold and I experimented a bit with it. A single cut out was kind of weak and did not Work. So I had to combine 2 cut outs together. Then I chopped off the feet and reattached them so they would be more human looking. I also Chopped of the Head and remodeled it so it would be more separately attached. I let the Figure Dry for the night so it would become more stiff and the next day. I asked dad for 2 cameras, one to capture the images with and one to film myself like a documentary. When I started filming it was actually not that hard. I encountered very little problems that I didn’t know I would encounter. The only thing that needs to change is a more solid footing for the puppet. Next off ill make a better mold so I could create figurine puppets faster and easier. A lighting system would be great as well

Last year when the personal projects where announced I decided (taking from the online reviewer craze) to do a parody of a movie that I didn’t like: Avatar. But not only that make a parody, a CLAYMATION parody. I liked the way claymation moved and I knew I could accomplish a lot more with flexible and maneuverable figurines. I watched some clips online and it did not look too hard. I tried thinking myself doing just that but then realized that although avatar is in fact a bad movie it was not the laughably funny type of movie. So I decided to to a movie about a Robot Pirate Ninja War. But then realizing that I hat not nearly enough time to do so. Over the summer I thought about what to do until I saw an action flash online and decided to do just that. A silly action claymation.

Today I first started seriously discussing my project. First I wrote as detailed as I possibly could the basic steps of how I will be making everything. Then Me and dad edited that list slightly and put it on Microsoft excel. We added some time limits on the project and discussed where we could have my basic set. After Some discussion we decided that the Sauna is the best undisturbed place for me to do the project because mom and dad wouldn’t go to it for a while. Dad realized that I will be needing programs for editing and helped me look for some good online programs for stop motion. And as a pre-thought decided that we should make a small short carton within 2 weeks time (the first week we gather materials and on shoot and the next week we edit) in order to test if I could make this thing work. We made a list of from which person I can get the materials from.

  • Maths Science: Orginizing camera and Windows movie maker
  • Bibliographical References: For My Inspiratoinal data
  • English: Script Writing

My Project in Depth

My project in Depth is a 15-30 Minute claymatoin movie about Pirates VS Ninjas.

What is required:
  • A Script
  • The ability to make clay Puppets
  • The ability to Work with wood (To make the Wooden Parts of The Scenery
  • The ability to paint (The Scennery)
  • The ability to make clay parts of the scennery.
  • Camera talent (To take pictures)
  • And LOTS AND LOTS OF PATIENTs

Area of interactoin

Human ingenuity!

I will use gloves when making the puppets in order to avoid fingerprints.

TAKING IT INTO A NEW DIRESCTOIN

PIRATES VS NINJAS!
I will have giant monster Vs Robot fights and Pirates and Nijas!
